Academic Advising Overview for Computer Science--Transfer (CSC.AS) Majors

The Academic Advising Center is continuing a new project which will allow students to receive an overview of the requirements of their declared major. In so doing, the Center hopes to utilize the electronic resources at its disposal to provide our students with another method of the best possible academic advising in as efficient a way as possible. This Electronic Advising Packet is for the Computer Science Transfer (CSC.AS) Degree.

Please also take a few moments to complete this assessment of the Electronic Advising Packet so that the Academic Advising Center can gain insight into its effectiveness.

ENG 121 

CSC 161--Introduction to Computer Science Using Java  (prerequisite of MAT 014)

MAT 131 or MAT 131A and MAT 131B--Analytic Geometry and Calculus I

GE Science elective (Students should take science courses designated as General Education (GE MST) that are numbered 117 or higher and should take a two-course sequence in the same science.

Physical Education (one credit) or Health Education (three credits)

CSC 162--Object Oriented Programming Using Java (prerequisites of CSC 161 and MAT 129)

ENG 122 (prerequisite of ENG 121)

MAT 132--Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (prerequisite of MAT 131)

GE Science elective (Students should take science courses designated as General Education (GEMST) that are numbered 117 or higher and should take a two-course sequence in the same science.

Technical Elective (CSC 116 or 200 level Computer Science or Science elective)

CSC 263--Computer Organization and Architecture I (prerequisite of CSC 161)

CSC 236--Data Structures in Java (prerequisites of  CSC 162 and MAT 129)

MAT 206--Introduction to Discrete Mathematics (prerequisite of MAT 132 or approval of department chairperson)

GE Social Science elective

CSC 264--Computer Organization and Architecture II (prerequisite of CSC 263)

MAT 210--Linear Algebra (prerequisite of MAT 132)

GE Social Science elective or GE Humanities Elective

GE Humanities Elective
